Albert Art Raccoon Tanooki Mario Toy2r Qee Custom Toy

PUT A TAIL ON IT!

I'm having too much fun designing and customizing these characters. Raccoon/Tanooki Mario with a real tail. Okay, so maybe not a real raccoon's tail, but it's faux fur tail (PETA friendly).

Hand-painted, 1-of-1 custom 8 inch Cat Qee.

This one is for sale, so contact me for deets, or request a commission.

Qee Story Stop Motion Animation Albert Art

STOP MOTION QEE

Here's a quick project I made within a few hours. I basically took the custom vinyl toys that I've painted, and created a little silent film, with stop motion techniques.

Something short and sweet, and not too complicated. It's these little ideas I get that I have to get out!

Featured in the video are 3 Mini-Qees, and one 2.5 inch Qee Letterman the Hound, which was featured in Artist Series 2 of the Skelanimals x Toy2R collaboration.

Enjoy!

Albert Art So So Happy Moodee Custom Qee Toy

SO SO MOODEE

Here's a full reveal of my custom Qee for the So So Happy Project collab with Toy2R. The travelling toy show features many cool artists, and will be on display at various cons, and art shows throughout the year. The most popular ones with the most feedback will probably go into production, so be sure to let Toy2R and So So Happy know which toys you like! Hint Hint.

Albert Art THUG-SH STORMHAMMER CUSTOM UNISON LAB TOY

THUG LIFE!!!

THUG SQUAD, ASSEMBLE!!! April has been a pretty busy month for me, working on 6 different customs toys within a few weeks, was a tall order. The challenge was giving each toy the time they deserve to really make them the best they could be within the time frame.

All three customs took about a month to produce, mainly because I was so busy with preparing for Fan Expo Vancouver. I was working on these THUG toys at the same time as my Easter 2012 custom Qees.

I first worked on a THUG custom over a year ago and it caught the attention of the Chilean toy company. So I jumped at the chance to work on their latest DIY, which is a totally unique style of toy.

I think I might be the only artist who managed to get a THUG-SH from Unison Lab. Honoured to have had the chance to customize it! The toy is quite the beast with long, heavy arms, and stubby legs, it has a slightly awkward balance if the arms are positioned too far over the head. I think it's around 8" tall, but with the arms raised it looks much taller and intimidating.  This toy required a lot of paint since there's so much space to cover on the toy this size.

Though the cool thing about toys from Unison Lab are the accessories and interchangeable parts of the Stormhammer.

The smaller THUG-GY can attach itself to the handles on the back of the Stormhammer, which is a neat idea if you really wanted to play around with your toys. They also now come with accessories like wearable masks, and weapons!

Together they're from the same universe. I like to think of them as futuristic troops in a squad. Unison Lab also boasts eco-friendly vinyl, which is good to know when picking a canvas to work on.

Lots of work went into these toys. I think I'll take a break to rest. hah

Albert Art Fan Expo Vancouver 2012 Recap

FAN EXPO VANCOUVER 2012

The first ever Fan Expo in Vancouver, went off with a bang, that included a large turnout of convention goers, many of whom have probably never been to a convention of this size before.

Vancouver has had for many years small scale cons, for anime fans, and gatherings for comicbook people, but none like Fan Expo originally from Toronto. The Vancouver-spin-off proved popular, enough to bring back next year, at a much larger scale.

As an artist showcasing in the Artist Alley, I didn't know what to expect, but was surprised to see the event packed with people.

Beth Wagner and veteran illustrator/storyboard artist Craig Wilson were my artist alley neighbours for the weekend, which made my time there pretty entertaining.

I had a chance to introduce many con goers to my vinyl custom toys, and Homeless Quatchi made some new friends!

Check out the pics below, and on Google Plus and Facebook.

(I will be at Vancouver Comic Con, Heritage Hall Main st. May 13.)

Designer Toy Awards 2012 NOMINATE AlbertArt

Hey! Maybe I have a shot at this! I've been customizing toys since 2007 and have built up lots of art to show for it! It would be great to rally the support, and maybe get nominated for something. I never win awards, but it would be cool if I did!

So many fantastic artists out there!

HAPPY EASTER FROM ALBERT ART!

Say hello to Easter Bunee! My latest hand-painted custom Mini-Qee in the varsity jacket wearing animal series, first seen on 'Letterman the Hound'. He sports a different kind of attitude as you can see, as well as different clothes from the 'Terrible Trio' --  Letterman the Hound , Pigee, and Bear. They REALLY want Easter eggs, so Bunee better watch out!

These toys will be on display this month at Fan Expo Vancouver, Artist Ally Booth A65 http://www.fanexpovancouver.com/attractions
