Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics - Medal Display - The Royal Canadian Mint

The feel of Olympic medals.

I waited for four hours this past Sunday just to get a glimpse at, and feel the Olympic medals on display at The Royal Canadian Mint in downtown Vancouver. For the first time in Games history, the Olympic medals were available to the public to hold, and touch, which is why the lineup was so long.

It was definitely worth the wait, and a very rare opportunity, since these medals are meant for Olympians, and not mere mortals such as I. They feel quite weighty, and look stunning up close, so hopefully I was able to capture their beauty on camera.

The Royal Canadian Mint is a pretty nice building too. It features a large exhibit about the whole production process of coins.
