HYPER DRIVE NIGHT DRIVE PART 2 x ALBERT ART CREATIVE

HYPER DRIVE

[Night Drive Part 2 'Hyper Drive'], is an audio-visual trip through city lights. Filmed by +ALBERT ART CREATIVE

Using Panasonic gear, the camera was mounted inside the vehicle, with slow shutter syncro scan, to get light streak effect. Filmed in Vancouver, BC CANADA.

Not much post production. Some color correction, and editing. No computer CGI effects. Practical in-camera effects are always more organic than effects simulated in a computer animation program. Faster and cheaper than creating computer effects. You get a raw, and random feel/timing, DIY aesthetic.

Night Drive Part 2 is a follow up to the 2012 video 'A Night Drive'.

The goal was to create an otherworldly dream-like visual experience that was like going warp speed space travel. Cinematic, and Videogame inspirations.

Music track "DROP IT" by SILENT PARTNER through +YouTube Creator Tools, Audio Library.

Total filming time was around 2 hours, with several hours of editing using +Adobe Creative Suite.

Albert Art Fan Expo Vancouver 2012 Recap

FAN EXPO VANCOUVER 2012

The first ever Fan Expo in Vancouver, went off with a bang, that included a large turnout of convention goers, many of whom have probably never been to a convention of this size before.

Vancouver has had for many years small scale cons, for anime fans, and gatherings for comicbook people, but none like Fan Expo originally from Toronto. The Vancouver-spin-off proved popular, enough to bring back next year, at a much larger scale.

As an artist showcasing in the Artist Alley, I didn't know what to expect, but was surprised to see the event packed with people.

Beth Wagner and veteran illustrator/storyboard artist Craig Wilson were my artist alley neighbours for the weekend, which made my time there pretty entertaining.

I had a chance to introduce many con goers to my vinyl custom toys, and Homeless Quatchi made some new friends!

Check out the pics below, and on Google Plus and Facebook.

(I will be at Vancouver Comic Con, Heritage Hall Main st. May 13.)

Beware Bad Business Juke Box Print Vancouver

ARTIST BEWARE: Juke Box Print Vancouver

High minimum order, pricey, misleading, and slow. RIP OFF.

APRIL 6

An artist friend had ordered large poster prints from this business for his own work, so I decided to order some prints from this place myself. I prepared my artwork, signed up on the site, and placed my order. My friend had referred me, so we would both be getting a $10 discount on our orders!

Excited, I couldn't wait to get my prints! Order was placed APRIL 6, a holiday (Good Friday).

APRIL 9

My card was charged APRIL 9. I get an email informing me that my order was incorrect because I added several image files attached to the order, rather than a single image. I was under the impression that I would be able to split my order into several images, which is what my friend had done in the past. Apparently, they 'updated their order system' this business provides a 'Sets' system, which basically greatly inflates the price of your order with each different image that gets printed.

So I opted for a single image, for an order of 50 prints (the minimum on their site) with a turnaround time of 1-2 days which came out to be $32.

APRIL 11

I email them to find out what's happening with my order.

APRIL 12

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.  Your current order does not have a guarantee for completion.  As there are many things that can cause delays on an order, from errors in the press, to an order needing to be reprinted, we are unable to guarantee a specific time that this order would be complete.  You will receive an email notification when this order is complete and available for pickup.

If there were delays in printing, shouldn't they inform the customer?   No guarantees for completion? What the fuck? My expectation is if I'm paying you for a service, you in return do that service within the time specified. Are customers just supposed to take ambiguous, uncertain deadlines and delays?

With no other option, I  wait for the notification.

APRIL 17

So, at this point I'm annoyed, and do a little digging online about the business. Upon my search I find some from the rip off report

Bad Quality and Bad Service Vancouver

http://www.ripoffreport.com/printing-copy-services/juke-box-print/juke-box-print-http-www-juke-46263.htm

Wouldn't take responsibility for their mistake

http://www.ripoffreport.com/printing-copy-services/juke-box-print-shop/juke-box-print-shop-late-wou-74419.htm

I email them again immediately.

APRIL 18

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. I have checked on the status of your order and it should be done by this friday. The estimated turn around times only include business days and we never guarantee these times as they are estimates only. I do apologize because we usually are within the estimated time frames. Thank you for your patience. You will get an email as soon as your order is ready for pick up. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Have a great day.

Friday? So that would make my order complete on APRIL 20.

Their turnaround time is clearly misleading, it takes 2 WEEKS to get your order complete? Not 1 - 2 days as posted on the invoice.

I reply to the email and made a request to cancel the order, and get a refund. Yet, I'm still waiting to hear back about that as well...

Their refund policy is shit.

What is your refund policy?

A refund can be requested before an order has gone into production – however is subject to transaction and administration fees. If an order is in production, a refund cannot be provided.
A full refund can only be provided if requested before 5pm (EST) the same day the order is placed (and is not in production).
It is the customers responsibilty to contact Jukeboxprint.com to request a refund. Accepting a refund as instore credit may avoid transaction fees. Please refer to our terms and conditions when placing your order.

If you have received product that you are not satisfied with please see "What happens if I received a product that is defective?".

Juke Box Print is BAD.

Albert Art Banner Vinyl Fan Expo Vancouver

ALBERT ART EVENT BANNER

It's here, it's finally here! Okay, so it only took a week to get, but it was a long wait. Glad it turned out so nice!

The new banner is printed on poly vinyl material, very thin (10oz), but notoriously difficult to rip and is quite durable.

I'll be using this banner at various shows, cons, and events. The banner will appear at Fan Expo Vancouver April 21-22 at TABLE A65 ARTIST ALLEY. http://www.fanexpovancouver.com/artist-alley-list

Very happy with the result from Rayacom Printers. I highly recommend this shop if you have banners to print. Custom sizes available. http://www.rayacom.com/

Dougie Dog Natural Hot dogs Vancouver

FOOD: Dougie Dog All Natural Hot Dogs Vancouver

I've always wanted to try Dougie Dog, and this past weekend I finally had the chance. Located near the intersection of Nelson and Granville in downtown Vancouver the gourmet hot dog joint, is serving up some pretty tasty dogs, unlike anything else in the city.

Sure JapaDog has their share of toppings and flavors, but their dogs are distinctly Japanese influenced. Dougie Dog on the other hand is more than a culturally influenced hot dog. Their dogs range from the original classic dog, to Italian, to Chicago style, to hot dogs named after rock stars. And lets not forget their high-end $100 hot dog topped with Kobe beef, lobster and truffles.

Now Dougie Dog isn't all just fancy sounding hot dogs. They are firm believers in all natural hot dogs, with no mystery to the meat. You can definitely see and taste the difference! The dogs also have a really nice crisp snap when you bite into it. No pink sludge!

I had heard about this place from friends, so I had to check it out.

I first ordered the Super Mario Dog. It was topped with mushrooms, cheese, and Jalepeno. Pretty good, but I was still hungry, and it was a bit mild for my taste, so I ordered the Seoul Dog. This was a very good dog, topped with Korean BBQ, kimchi, and pickles. So good.

The Butterscotch Root Beer was very smooth, and not too sweet like other Root Beer brands.

The history Dougie Dog is documented on the Dougie Dog DVD. I had my DVD autographed by the man himself. If Dougie Dog sounds familiar it was originally featured on the show Dragons' Den.
